A lot of people discard art from their lives thinking that it's too complicated. Well, I'll tell you one thing - you don't need to be an expert to consume it. And if you're in Vilnius, you need to have a slice of this one!
My favorite, and also the biggest place with loads of shifting exhibitions, is the National Art Gallery. 10 different halls with more than 46,000 exhibits and cheap entrance tickets is much more than enough to confirm a visit.
The gallery itself is a colossal building located by the river Neris, right next to the Vilnius sakura garden. A very convenient spot to reach by local transportation or simply by a neat 15 minute walk from the oh so popular Gediminas avenue in Vilnius. It's great to combine the visit with a picnic in the green area by the White bridge in the summer or simply by walking around the shopping centers.
Besides the complementary conveniences - this is the place where you need to be if you want to see the works of the most famous Lithuanian artists from ten decades ago leading up to the present. It consists of all sorts of goodies: paintings, photographs, sculptures and even videos. All worth to be glanced for at least a few seconds. I took 2 hours for my last visit, and I am surely looking forward to another 20.
