A place where art and design come to meet? Sounds pretty good. And it is! The Kuratorium Gallery in the very heart of Warsaw is run by a young art & design lover – and it shows. The gallery is in a beautifully renovated space on Sienna Street, close to the Museum of Modern Art and the Central Train Station. The gallery space however, is unique: the exhibition space is combined with a modern design store. The result is kind of like walking in to someone's – very chic – living room.
The gallery focuses on showcasing the work of contemporary Polish artists, mostly painters, however once in a while, an interesting foreign artist has a show here as well. Many of the exhibits are of works by up-and-coming painters, about whom you may not have heard yet, but you are bound to hear about soon!
The gallery is also a space for creative activities: come for meetings with artists, art lectures, and various workshops for children and adults alike.
In the design store, you can buy some of the best items in Polish design: from little decorative gadgets to more useful things for your office or kitchen, all the way to incredible chairs and bookshelves. Oh, and by the way: if you are interested in design it is definitely worth finding out more about contemporary Polish design!
It's definitely worth ducking into on a walk around the center. Come on – a little culture won't hurt!
