I hurt. I ache. And yet I am in such a good mood. Why? Well, who wouldn't enjoy hurting from laughing way too much? If you too feel like being in tremendous amounts of pain – check out Warsaw's first Comedy Club (Klub Komediowy). Poland is known for its kabarety, however Polish cabaret is different: it's focused mainly on silly and satirical sketches. New forms of comedy are now taking root in Poland and the Comedy Club is bringing them to us – live.
The Club's first home was at the legendary Chłodna 25 club. After it closed, they roamed the streets of Warsaw cracking bad jokes, hoping people could use a laugh. As it turned out they did: the initiative to open the Comedy Club in its own home was actually financed mostly thanks to a crowdfunding campaign.
So why am I in pain? I went to a stand-up show – the guys from Stand-Up Polska were hilarious. The Club offers stand-up and more: drop in for some improv, theater, concerts, workshops, and screenings of terrible movies (so bad, you either have to laugh or cry. Or both), even burlesque! Whatever you choose you will surely be amused. And be moved to tears. From laughing. Way too hard. Worried that your Polish is just not good enough? No worries! Check out their English Improv Jams, workshops and Open Mic nights.
In the summer, you'll find the at Plac Zabaw Go and get your laugh on!
