Bar mleczny ("milk bar") is an old style canteen where you can buy the cheapest meal in Warsaw. Milk bars serve typical Polish food and everything tastes like at your mum's. The fanpage on Facebook encourages: "Compose your own meal from varied elements for a price for which in normal restaurants you wouldn't even buy a cracker."
There are several milk bars in Warsaw, not so cheap as before, but they still have got the same charm. Bar Mleczny Rusałka is, in my opinion, the best one. Great food, nice guests and a lady at the counter who always smiles.
Milk bars were born during communism and going there is like moving back in time. One of them was presented in a grotesque way in a Polish movie.
