Julia's Empanadas is one of my favorite places in DC. While Latin food isn't hard to find in DC, empanadas can be. And not just any empanadas, but good ones.
Julia's has a good selection to choose from. There are a handful of permanent menu items including chorizo, chicken salteñas, and Chilean beef. There are also rotating specials like chipotle steak. For those folks that don't eat meat, they always have a vegetarian and a vegan option. The portion sizes are great as well. They're more filling than a traditional snack (e.g. chips, candy bar, granola) but not as heavy as a full sit-down dinner. If you're extra hungry, you can of course buy as many as you like.
Julia's Empanadas has several locations in the Washington DC area, however, the one that I visit the most is in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. There are a lot of bars nearby, so Julia's is a perfect place for a late-night snack.
