This is one of the wackiest places I have been to in D.C. Part museum, part hotel, part scavenger hunt, part artist residency, it’s hard to write about the O St. Mansion. It is comprised of five interconnected townhouses that include over 100 rooms and over 70 secret doors.
Filled with photographs, paintings, sports memorabilia, signed guitars, manuscripts, and more, the mansion is truly the embodiment of sensory overload. You can either do a self-guided tour of the space or participate in one of their group activities such as a treasure hunt or high tea. You can even stay overnight in one of their themed rooms: you can choose from the John Lennon Suite, the Log Cabin (both aptly decorated), or the Rosa Parks room (which is where Rosa Parks stayed when she visited D.C. in the late 1990s and early 2000s).
The mansion's mission is “to empower people to do what they love — dare to be different — and have fun. [They] inspire creativity, diversity, and imagination through the fusion of the arts, science, and sports.” And what a wacky fusion it is.
