The Brig is arguably the flagship beer garden of the Eastern Market and Navy Yard neighborhoods.
I really like The Brig for a few reasons. First, it's got a great laid-back atmosphere. In addition to that (and maybe more importantly) the service is always good and efficient. I rarely end up waiting very long for anything that I order and I've never had to wait for a table.
I also really like that you can be comfortable there during the winter. I'm not really a cold lover, so the fact that they add a closed-in area with heating when it's chilly outside is awesome. DC winter weather can be weird. It might be 32 degrees (0 Celsius) today and 72 degrees (22 Celsius) tomorrow. So on those days when it's nice out, I can take advantage of the good weather and hang out outside
Last, but not least, The Brig is easy to get to. It's five blocks from the Eastern Market Metro Station and eight blocks from the Navy Yard Metro Station. If you drive, it's relatively easy to find parking (as long as it's not a game day for the local major league baseball team).
