Ara Sargsyan & Hakob Kojoyan Museum Yerevan

Overlooked

"The "Ara Sargsyan and Hakob Kojoyan Museum" in Yerevan is so hidden and poorly advertised it's unfortunately overlooked. Great painting & sculpture though."

On the corner of Pushkin Street and Saryan Street stands a fairly attractive red stone building, albeit run-down. It has its own courtyard decorated with lovely statutes. During the summer and autumn, the greenery gives the building a homey ambiance. Unfortunately, the building - an art and sculpture museum - is not well advertised to both locals and foreigners. It is so hidden that it is unfortunately overlooked.

The museum exhibits the work of both Ara Sargsyan (a famous sculptor) and Hakob Kojoyan (a famous painter). Their work is stunning and I personally enjoyed observing and learning about the various pieces the museum showcases. The museum is actually quite large and the layout a bit confusing. Just note that there are floors, so don't miss anything!

For art lovers, this museum is definitely unique and worth visiting. Yerevan is a very artistic city and I recommend visiting as many art museums as possible to understand and realize the diversity of Armenian art.
