Located under the busy lines of the Davtashen Bridge lies one of my favourite places in Yerevan: a peaceful pedestrian walkway. Most people cross the bridge by car and don't know about this place, as it carries the foot traffic under the noisy and polluted street above.
I love the contrast of the Davtashen Bridge. On one side, you are surrounded by urban mass and concrete, which connects the city parts with each other. On the other side is the nature - hills, trees, and the Hrazdan river passing between them. It’s like standing in two different realities at once - nature and city, noise and silence, movement and
stillness.
The Davtashen Bridge walkway itself is rarely crowded. Often, I am the only person there, and the only noise is the echo from the cars crossing above. The walls of the walkway are covered with raw, expressive graffiti - little snapshots of thoughts, protest, and love. It is like a public diary, and you can always find something interesting or funny to read there.
Whenever I need a break, I come here just to walk, think, and look out. It’s a spot that’s easy to miss, but unforgettable once you find it.
