Sherep restaurant is an open kitchen restaurant located in the very heart of Yerevan, near Republic Square. In fact, it's the first open kitchen restaurant in the city. The ambiance and environment of the restaurant are more on the fancy side, while the prices are quite reasonable. I love to enjoy my meal in the private rooms, however they have enjoyable live music playing in the evenings in the main sitting area. One can also follow the bread baking session every day.
They mostly offer Armenian traditional food with some touches of modern European and regional food. Everything is flavorful and beef stroganoff is what I would recommend you go for. The service is of high quality, though there's still some space for improvement. I would recommend to reserve a table in advance by calling, because it's usually full during peak hours.
Overall, it's a good place for breakfast, lunch, dinner both for random "walk-ins" and for "family and friends" parties.
"Retro Cafe" in Yerevan has two branches: one on Mashtots and one near Cascade. The latter is one of my favorites: I love the banana cake & brownie!
