Can this be true? Can burgers be tasty AND healthy at the same time? Yes they can, at least at Submarine BBQ. They make everything from scratch and the authenticity of the ingredients is unquestionable, from different parts of Croatia. So you will have tomato and onions from Slavonia, buns from Zagreb's bakery, pancetta from Dalmacia, lamb from Međimurje, cheese Škripavac from Lika and lettuce from Istria. A whole country in a meal!
Apart from changing the name, they also opened another restaurant in the eastern part of town (Radnička cesta 34) and upgraded their offer. Under motto "Hot Burgers and Sexy Scampi" now you can enjoy grilled scampi with special sauce, coleslaw salad and hand sliced potatoes.
They have three categories of food – burgers, salads and desserts, with decent prices. Hamburgers are really good. The meat is juicy, not too thick, sometimes a little bit overdone (but not for me personally) and it wouldn't hurt to be a little bit bigger. Homemade buns are tasteful and crunchy with quite an interesting side of fun combinations, of which some can even seem a little bit strange (radicchio + hazelnuts + sauce and honey mustard).
If you are anything like me and often can't decide what to order, Submarine BBQ has a special recipe for that called "Sliders". For only Kn 40 you will get three different burgers (Chef's choice), a bit smaller in size but heavenly good.
