I know charm comes in many variations, and of course, de gustibus et coloribus non disputandum, so I’m well aware of the fact that not everyone will adore this fascinating gem. Indeed, if you only fancy a boring, ultra modern interior and stiff dull service, you’d better stay away… but in other cases it will be difficult not to feel sympathy for the world the charismatic owner has created at A Casa Mia.
You’re welcomed with a smile, some olives and some chips, and after paying the bill you’re often rewarded with a shot of limoncello, amaretto or grappa offered by the house. In between you can enjoy the richly decorated walls and the good food that is very reasonably priced, if you were able to make up your mind on what to choose that is. The daily suggestions, not listed on the menu, do not exactly make this choice easier, coming back regularly is my only solution.
In a previous lifetime the owner worked in the movie industry and you can’t miss the retro cinema pictures on the walls, but the decoration is so much more than only this, making it impossible to describe. He changes accents in the interior every couple of months, now valentine’s day and carnival have passed, I’m sure there will be some hints of Easter hanging around soon.
