In addition to my article on Sydhavn, where I wrote about my lovely neighborhood, I would like to give you all a chance to end your day trip with a true Danish experience.
Everyone can get hungry after a good long walk and I cannot think of a better way to finish off a good solid meal, washed down with a pint and a few snaps (or schnapps). But it can be difficult to find the right place. Especially out here behind the city walls.
Luckily there is a perfect place around the corner from the allotment gardens and in between the old fishing boats. The name is S/F Mellemfortet – Tutten. Their story goes back to 1966 and it’s a true hidden local gem.
A lot of the tourist books claim to know the best places for the best smørrebrød in town, and some of the city restaurants are good, but nothing comes close to Tutten. That’s mainly because of the authenticity and the friendly regulars. The view from the terrace over the water and boats are not bad either.
If you don’t know what to get, just ask at the counter what to get. I recommend the men’s plate of food that comes with a beer and a snaps.
P.S. The kitchen is open between 11:00 – 14:30 for lunch and again from 18:00 – 20:00 for dinner.
