Maraboo is one of the most famous poems by Nikos Kavvadias, who travelled around the world as a sailorman and wrote about his love for the sea. But it was also the inspiration for our dearest friend Vicky, who opened her own ice cream shop in the super hype neighborhood of Pangrati!
Vicky has had this dream since she was a child—to have a small, cozy ice cream shop where people would come and taste her handmade ice cream. So, one day, she decided to travel to Rome—the heart of ice cream love—and take classes on how to make ice cream. And after that, Maraboo was born!
Dimitris and I visited her and tasted lots of flavors that night: mango, tahini, peanut butter, yogurt, black chocolate, fiori di latte – and believe me, it took us a lot of time to decide which flavor to choose! Apart from ice cream, Vicky also makes sorbet that is really fresh and colorful (like the mango one, which I really really liked!)
Vicky makes different flavors using seasonal ingredients every day. If she asks you if you want to add a biscuit to your ice cream, please say YES! Also note that at Maraboo, they do not use plastic—even the spoons are biodegradable! They also serve ice creams for your dog!
We all scream for Maraboo's ice cream!
