Although there are many good Indian restaurants in Athens and Indian food is a favourite choice for many Athenians, Namaste Indian Restaurant is a special case and my favourite place for Indian food in the city. Its owner was born in Nepal and by opening Namaste in Athens, he wanted to convey the philosophy and tastes of his country. His restaurant presents classic Indian cuisine enriched with the dishes of the unique mountain country of Nepal. The flavours are authentic and refined with meticulous quality ingredients and authentic Indian spices.
Here you can taste an excellent chicken tikka or old-style chicken curry but at the same time, unique dishes such as lamb shahajahani (with creamy sauce, cashews and saffron) and the Nepalese bans called sherpa mo mo (steamed buns filled with minced meat dipped in sesame sauce). Finally, excellent accompaniments are the rice biryani and the traditional fresh-baked bread naan (in several tastes). The restaurant is quite warm and modern with a large open kitchen where meals are prepared in front of our eyes and the staff is extremely willing to help you with the choice of dishes and combinations of the relatively large menu.
Every time I visit this place the only problem I have is what to choose and I still have not managed to try everything. Namaste is an unforgettable tasting experience in my favourite neighbourhood of Koukaki.
"Akadimia Platonos", or Plato's Academy in Athens, is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods with a rich history. I love going there for a cultural walk...

This "Organic Market" in Athens is not just any organic market: it's in an old squat with a beautiful garden and people are just so friendly there!

"O Kapetán Michális" (after Kazantzakis' book) is the most unpretentious tavern in Athens. Believe me, eating there is celebrating the joy of being alive.

"SCRY Coffee Bar" is in Athens' Kypseli, a neighbourhood that's a beautiful hive... I love this cafe's filter coffee(!) and single origin blends to bits.

"Drapetsona" is an area in Piraeus (Athens) that I love for its industrial style architecture. Drapetsona is also famous for its street art.

I've been here with friends and they've all been amazed at the low prices, cool vibe and '90s memorabilia. Even the cocktails are named after Pokemon!

"Spirtokouto" is the first bar I had spotted in the area of Kato Petralona at a time when this area was not as popular as now. I love the great music!

There's this rusty old ad on the side of a building in Athens reading "IWATSU Japan". It has a rotary dial telephone on it. How times change (?)...

The house is known for the two wonderful Caryatid sculptures located on the balcony of its facade. The house was built in the late 19th century and is a typical example of Athenian neoclassicism.

"To Steki tou Ilia" in Athens is what we might call a traditional Greek tavern/restaurant; here I can eat what my mum would cook right by the train tracks!
