Back in the day when I was a proper vegetarian, it was very hard to find vegan/vegetarian places in Belgrade. One of the first of that kind that I heard of years ago was Ahimasa Vega Yoga.
In the beginning, Ahimasa was a small place with a few tables in front of the window where you could get tasty vegan food, or they would partner with a neighboring bar, so you could take their food there. I loved going there and enjoying their tasty veggie burgers. But recently, Ahimasa Vege Yoga grew into a proper restaurant and, as good news for me, much closer to my home.
As they opened quite recently, I went just once, and it was much more than I expected. From the street, it seemed like a cute small local with a few tables looking onto the street, but actually, when you pass this part and a long hallway, you enter a real, a bit fancy restaurant, with bossa nova music playing, and pleasant waiters ready to help and recommend new meals on the menu. This time, I tried rice noodles with tofu and vegetables in a peanut sauce, which was very tasty. The portions are big, and the prices, considering how big the portions are, are lower than expected, especially compared to other vegetarian restaurants. Furthermore, the options are very diverse, offering various international made vegan meals. So don’t miss the chance to try some if you are in search of vegan food.
