Marukoshi is, as far as I know, the oldest Japanese restaurant in Belgrade. It's located in the city center on a small street that heads toward the river, making it a convenient spot to visit before or after a stroll along the riverbank.
Marukoshi offers a variety of Japanese dishes, but I must admit I go there for their ramen. They serve different miso soups in large bowls with generous portions. There are several options to choose from, all of which are delicious. The level of spiciness is just right, and the soups are filled with fresh, tasty vegetables and other ingredients, depending on which ramen you choose. Besides miso ramen, they also offer ramen salad, which is a lighter but equally tasty option. I also enjoy their gyoza (Japanese dumplings), which can be filled with meat or vegetables, making it a great appetizer. Since I tend to stick with what I like, I haven't yet tried other items on the menu, but everything looks delicious, and the waiters at Marukoshi are always ready to help and recommend meals.
Beyond the food, Marukoshi has a pleasant interior with two floors—one for smoking and other non-smoking—large windows overlooking the street, and many Japanese motifs and decorations.
