If you are into brutalist architecture and have researched places to explore in Belgrade, you might have stumbled upon blocks 61, 62, 63 and 64 – a nearly 2 km long stretch of stepped concrete giants marking the western end of New Belgrade. If you can get past the initial punch of greyness, you'll find that these buildings and the beautiful green areas between them offer some pretty cool spots to explore, one of which is Blokić (Serbian for 'little block'), a coffee shop tucked into the ground floor of a huge concrete residential building.
Blokić is one of those places that I stumbled upon by chance, walking around block 64 and enjoying a rare winter sunny day. The place is well hidden, small, but cozy and tastefully decorated. I was greeted by the friendly barista and got the chance to pet a cute four-legged neighbour while waiting for my coffee. The coffee itself is excellent, and the place offers plenty of milk alternatives for those who prefer their drink dairy-free.
Cafe Blokić is one of those places that is almost exclusively frequented by locals. Its location is slightly out of the way for the average tourist, but, as mentioned, it is well worth a stop if you are doing some urban exploring in the area. After getting your caffeine fix, head on over to TC Piramida nearby to do some alternative shopping.
