Next to the perpetually busy Trg Republike, Belgrade's central square and a favorite meeting place of both locals and tourists, lies a small street – Dositejeva. Walk just a few steps downhill and you will almost instantaneously find yourself in a much calmer and more intimate ambiance. Before reaching the first corner you will see two art galleries. The lower one, Haos, is one of my favorite spots for an instant art infusion.
Of course, one of the reasons for this is that I live two minutes from here but this does not undermine their excellent artistic output. You will immediately feel that this small place is run by dedicated art lovers. As a historian I especially appreciate that they evenly exhibit artwork from contemporary artists as well as of the relevant names from previous ages so that you never know what you will stumble upon here - a real creative art chaos!
To make things even more interesting, I almost always meet the lady who owns and runs the place and she always has time to answer all of my questions about ideas, inspirations and their further plans. I find it comforting to know that a homely art venue like this exists in the very heart of Belgrade.
