Although I pride myself in finding cool, hidden spots in Belgrade, I must admit it took me dozens of walks down the beautiful Svetogorska street to notice that the plain blue (sometimes green!) door on a random wall between two buildings lead to a bar and not to a private garden.
KC Shaka is a small bar, nestled between two residential buildings in a busy street in downtown Belgrade. The garden fits only a couple of tables, but the cool decor, a whimsical mural on the facade to the side of the garden and beautiful lighting at night make this place the perfect summer getaway.
As it is well-hidden and not very active on social media, you also have the added surprise factor of not knowing what kind of night out to expect: sometimes, you'll be the only guests there, drinking a delicious Gin & Tonic and hanging out with the resident cats, and other times you'll stumble upon a party.
Let my experience here be a guide to finding cool places in Belgrade: keep your eyes open, and if some unassuming entrance seems like it has a hidden gem behind it, check it out!
