Belgrade has a variety of fast-food restaurants, ranging from simple bakeries to expensive places selling international food. It has always been sort of a rule of thumb that cheap and tasty fast food can most often be found near Belgrade's schools. This also holds true for Kod Debelog (or just "Debeli" as me and my friends call it), a local fast food place which has been open for years and is located just a couple of minutes from two elementary and two high schools.
A favourite quick bite of my friends and mine (since our elementary school days), Kod Debelog is most famous for its gyros, but its menu also includes cheap and filling sandwiches and all sorts of sweet and savoury pancakes (with the most generous amount of fillings I've yet seen in Belgrade). While the place is intended as a take-out, there is a small area in the back of the shop where you can sit down and take deep breaths after gobbling down a huge portion of gyros.
Kod Debelog has recently branched out to Zemun, but its original location in Svetogorska is the place to grab a bite if you're in the area and are not in the mood to think about your calorie intake. One thing's for sure: you will not leave this place hungry.
