Strolling around Vračar, one of Belgrade's nicest neighborhoods, you are bound to stumble upon a cafe or bar practically every few steps. Plenty of these have their patios out on the street and are full at almost any time of day or even year.
If you keep your eyes open, you'll notice that some of the beautiful old family houses which line Vračar's streets have been turned into cafes, and more often than not, these places have the prettiest gardens for when the warm weather hits, and you need to escape from the sun and drink a nice cold beverage in the shade.
Monk's is a perfect example of such a cafe. When you enter its yard from the street, you are greeted by a peaceful garden covered with string lights and greenery, where you can sit down with a friend or the resident cat and have a nice, refreshing drink. As is often the case, the place tends to get quite popular and crowded in the evenings, especially on weekends. If you're looking for a fun night out with a good crowd, look no further.
Keeping in line with the overall ethos of Belgrade, Monk's can be whatever you make of it: a peaceful getaway for a hot summer's day, a cozy nook for a cup of tea and a book after work, or a lively space for a weekend night out full of music and dancing.
