Dunckerstraße is officially recognized as a densely populated street in East Prenzlauer Berg. It’s no wonder, then, that we find our spot, the bookstore Prior & Mumpitz, surrounded by five bakeries and cafés.
The tiny bookstore at Dunckerstraße Nr. 72 is next to an open-air leisure corner with ping pong tables - so small that one might not notice it at first. That is why it is impressive to find this bookstore host several reading events, both for children and adults.
Prior & Mumpitz hosts “Literatur im Gespräch” (Literature in Discussion) every first Wednesday of a month and also a monthly reading club for children. That’s right! One of the specialties of the bookstore is that the shopkeepers introduce children’s books to kindergartens and schools upon request.
One of the founders, Martina Prior wrote a blog that is still today worth being referenced for reading tips. Prior & Mumpitz is a Germanophone bookstore.

One word to describe Macondo? Bustling! It's not the place if you need a quiet space to work, but it's nice if you want to have it all: work, play, wine, and coffee.
