Adrianos is a bustling little corner shop right in the middle of the tourist trail. It is located slightly hidden under the arcades. Still, it’s in no way an insider tip since it serves the undisputable best coffee in town for over 25 years. Therefore it is no surprise that most visitors are local connaisseurs that follow their nose to wherever the most delicious roasting flavour comes from.
Lately, a whole bunch of new high quality coffee shops like Jusq'a, Rösterei, Drip Roasters or Ferdinand have sprouted around town. I still like Adrianos the best for its metropolitan atmosphere and the wild mix of urban bohemians, chilled elderly people, bean hunting backpackers, dry throated sightseers and stressed out office folks as their guests.
For me that's reason enough to stay a while, eat one of the delicious freshly made paninis slash bagels (I recommend the Sri Lanka Special), and slow down in one of the busiest spots in town.
Recently Adrianos opened a little less hectic Versa Bar right around the corner with equally delicious coffee and a fine selection of vermouths. In a little shop attached to the bar, you can buy Adriano's very own coffee machine, "The Else" (an answer to the rhetorical question raised by some grey haired boomer actor).
Pro tip: If you stare at the floor pattern of Adrianos long enough, the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland will appear in 3D. ;-)

Nature is claiming back the city - a powerful image. The mural was painted by Paul Stämpfli in 1987, way before the world was discussing climate change.
