Ziever'Art Brussels

Community culture in Anderlecht

"Ziever’Art in Anderlecht is a buzzing, volunteer-run hub mixing art, fun, and community. From concerts to kids’ workshops - there’s always something happening!"

“Zieveraar!”

In Brussels, you might hear someone shouting this to a friend during a cheeky conversation full of silly talk. It’s traditional Brussels dialect, a juicy mixture of Flemish infused with French (discover more on Brusseleir). “Zieveraar” is hard to translate, but it means as much as “a nonsensical blabbermouth”.

Ziever’Art is a playful pun on this couleur locale. This socio-cultural organisation is located in the lovely Busselenbergpark in Anderlecht since 2024. It is 100% volunteer-driven, lead by the energetic and unparallelled Ismaël. In a little wooden chalet and on the playground of an abandoned elementary school, Ziever’Art brings together young and old by means of art and conviviality.

The list of activities is impressive. Intimate music concerts and full-fledged choir recitals. Brass bands and jazz improvisations. Karaoke nights and open mics. Expositions of local artists and theatre plays. Art workshops for kids and computer training for the elderly. Christmas markets and sewing classes. Parlor game nights and bike repair sessions. Flea markets and kids making their own music instruments. Monster parades and kicker football.

Seriously? That many activities? That’s impossible! Zieveraar!

Don’t believe me? Just see for yourself!

Sunset view Duden park

The best viewpoint around

I haven't yet been able to identify all the villages/churches marked on the small stone wall but I'm sure I will at some point!

Perché rooftop bar

Drinks with a view

The Perché rooftop bar is on top of the JAM hotel, which is why not many people wander up here, but it's so worth it! It has a great view and comfy chairs.

Le Fabiola

Wine bar de quartier

With an extravagant vintage decore, the bar takes its name from Queen Fabiola, a Spanish noblewoman who was a very beloved Queen consort of the Belgians.

Vietnamese with a twist

The name Nenu comes from the Vietnamese concept of “an nhau”, a style of drinking and eating culture, sharing small and large plates with friends & family.

The stars of the menu are the homemade fluffy pancakes - an explosion of flavors, which come in different flavors, including a tiramisu and matcha version.

Yamayu Santatsu

A Japanese corner

If you come with a group, I suggest taking the “Moriawase” (Japanese for “assortment”), a larger plate that is easier to share and to try different things.

Shanghai Kitchen

Fine Chinese Cuisine

As a meat lover, I absolutely enjoyed the dishes based on Iberic pork, including the spare ribs and the Jiang Rou Bao, which literally melted in my mouth.

REBEL

Wild wines and nasty food

Peaking at my neighbors' plates, I decided to try the bass with garlic oil, ginger, and furikake, and the tartare de boeuf with pepper mousse and pickles on the side.

Piola Pizza

For true pizza lovers

At Piola the specialty of the house is the “Siciliana o’ Cornicione” pizza, but it is only for the bravest: it comes with a ricotta cheese stuffed crust.
