“Zieveraar!”
In Brussels, you might hear someone shouting this to a friend during a cheeky conversation full of silly talk. It’s traditional Brussels dialect, a juicy mixture of Flemish infused with French (discover more on Brusseleir). “Zieveraar” is hard to translate, but it means as much as “a nonsensical blabbermouth”.
Ziever’Art is a playful pun on this couleur locale. This socio-cultural organisation is located in the lovely Busselenbergpark in Anderlecht since 2024. It is 100% volunteer-driven, lead by the energetic and unparallelled Ismaël. In a little wooden chalet and on the playground of an abandoned elementary school, Ziever’Art brings together young and old by means of art and conviviality.
The list of activities is impressive. Intimate music concerts and full-fledged choir recitals. Brass bands and jazz improvisations. Karaoke nights and open mics. Expositions of local artists and theatre plays. Art workshops for kids and computer training for the elderly. Christmas markets and sewing classes. Parlor game nights and bike repair sessions. Flea markets and kids making their own music instruments. Monster parades and kicker football.
Seriously? That many activities? That’s impossible! Zieveraar!
