There is a major difference between ice cream and gelato, and that is the temperature. Ice cream is frozen and can be made in December and sold in August (the following year)...Well, gelato is made on a daily basis, it is more creamy and flavoured. The fat percentage in ice-cream is legally 10% while gelato has something like five to seven percent. The flavours are more intense in gelato than that of ice-cream...Ok, you could say that I am in love with gelato, but the fact is that I truly recommend gelato instead of any ice cream.
There are worldwide competitions where gelato manufacturers take part and gelato is tasted just like wines.
'Gran Gelato' in Bucharest is among the best that can be found, in Bucharest. Among the flavors they sell, 'Casata Siciliana' is one of them. I recommend it; it is as it should be. A part of Sicily in Bucharest. At least once a year I travel to Italy, chance brought me to Sicily, and I always have at least 4-5 gelato/day. Back in Bucharest I can find the same tastes at Gran Gelato.
The price is great, a little over 1€ for a cup (5 Lei). You can get diabetes because of these prices. My sincere recommendation is not to mix the flavours. Take as many cups as you want but don't mix the flavours. They even have take-away thermal packs so, enjoy...
