If you wish to have something very personal, sort of homemade in your day, I recommend a visit to Szabad Bisztró - delicious vegan dishes, local drinks and tasty coffee in a cozy space with funny little hidden details such as the strangely misspelled words in the menu. It's all put together with the freedom of one's thoughts creating a welcoming space where everything you can buy is plant-based and really tasty.
Szabad (Free in Hungarian) Bisztro is also associated with local initiatives. One of their current big goals is to be able to use the space in front of the bistro as a terrace instead of it being a parking place, for which they have created a petition. Normally when the weather is good, you may find an open van parked in front of the place for people to sit out on, which got then named “Nemterasz”, “Notterrace”. This year however they are working on opening another bar as well, which is probably why the terrace is not at its usual place, hopefully, it parks back soon.
What is more, they often support other causes as well such as the adoption of dogs, so sometimes as you sit on the colorful chairs of Szabad you will see some smiley faces of doggies to adopt or some works of a contemporary artist. Most of the time, the owner is there to serve you and it feels as if you were a guest at a kind neighbor or at a friend’s place.
"Nos a Hely" is a pop-up vintage shop in Hungary - they have a carefully curated selection of vintage porcelain and other local items. Great for gifts!

The "Dracula statue" in a less-frequented part of Vajdahunyad Castle is of Hungarian actor Béla Lugosi, the first ever Dracula. It used to be a mystery...

I make sure to visit this place, at least once per month and always eat the same Gallet cake and drink some coffee or tea from their selections.

"Flippermúzeum" in Budapest is a pinball museum, but museum might be the wrong word here - you can play with every exhibit, and it's fun for everyone!

There's a myriad of urban legends; claiming that it managed to swallow tanks during WW2 or that after the system change '89 dead bodies were washed ashore.

"Kelet Café", carpeted with books and newspaper, is my favourite place on the Buda side of Budapest. Definitely try their home-made ice tea w/ real fruit.
