The American Center Cairo (ACC, formerly IRC), located in Cairo's U.S. Embassy, is the U.S. Embassy’s primary outreach center, offering daily programs and information to Egyptian audiences. It is also a gateway to American policy, culture, society and values. ACC is open to everyone aged 18 and older. Services and programs are available at no charge.
They have organized monthly schedule that contains different kind of activities like a weekly English Conversation Club, discussions about film projections, programs on the policy of the United States, its society and current issues, scholarships in the United States of America, career development seminars, technical workshops, and other topics and programs.
Here you can borrow books for up to three weeks (plus two more weeks you can ask for once). They also have DVDs and audiobooks.
What makes it special for me is the whole month they have for international woman's day: they allocate the whole month of March just for women, development programs or movies projections, discussions and other activities. It's all about Egyptian women. During the other months I love joining activities where I can practice my English and meet foreigners and locals.
