Café Karin: one of my favorite breakfast spots downtown! They serve breakfast from 10:00 - 18:00 (hello late risers!) and they offer a coffee named after me (Caro Kaffee) - while that's enough for me to love a place, here's a few more reasons: the delicious banana curd, the home-made Bircher muesli, the apple-pancakes and fluffy scrambled eggs with salmon...
Apart from the single sweet or salty breakfast plates you can choose and combine, they serve whole assortments named after Frankfurt's districts. For example, "Bockenheim" is for vegans (avocado, spelt bread and fruit salad) while "City" is for the hasty (croissant, jam, butter). Also, if you happen to pass Café Karin between 16:30 - 20:00, order an Etagére and some Aperitif -- popular among the afterwork crowds, you'll be served a food tower with a sweet-salty sandwich selection and drinks.
For the evenings, take a seat at their cosy bar counter: the Hessian barkeeper is always up for a friendly chat. That's also how I found out that Café Karin sources its products from the region, supports organic farming and always offers vegetarian options.
