For the past 20 years, “Eckhaus” has been an institution in Frankfurt’s Nordend quarter. The kitchen is down-to-earth and influenced by traditional dishes. One of the delicacies from the regular menu (of around 30 different dishes) is the fresh fried and shredded potatoes (“Rösti” € 9.90) typical for Switzerland but nonetheless very tasty!!!!
Apart from other traditional dishes like “Putengeschnetzeltes” (€ 11.90) or “Schnitzel” one can find also some meals with an Asian or Oriental influence (mostly on the daily menu). Last but not least and my personal favorite: the “Bratkartoffeln” (fried potatoes) I think you won’t find a better one in the entire city. Portions are quite generous, and the price for a normal white wine is € 4.
A romantic summer garden is always open during the summertime and is frequented almost only by regular guests ranging between 3 to 80 years of age.
As a lot of people go to Eckhaus after the former Friday (now Wednesday) evening market at “Friedberger Platz”, making a reservation in advance is a good idea.
