Say bonjour to Aurélie when you enter l'atelier des tartes in a tiny little side street of Young Sachsenhausen's Brückenviertel! She is the Queen of Tarts and I often see her on her way to to l'atelier in the morning, usually packing three or four different kinds of fresh baked home made french tarts! She sometimes shares what is on her menu on Facebook, which by itself is always mouthwatering already: blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, depending on the season, crumble, citron, chocolate, apple, marzipan... get what I mean?! But trust me, the scent and the view of her tarts are even better than any Facebook picture can reveal. So, even when I don't know what she has prepared today, I always find a visit worth the effort and a very special treat!
Aurélie also offers lunch items, so if you are not much of a sweet-tooth, try her soups, tarts with cheese (my favorite: goat cheese with pears!) or mushrooms, a different surprise every day. Again, seasonal, selected and carefully prepared fresh every day.
I enjoy staying in the small and comfortable restaurant, sometimes sit outside in the backyard if the weather permits, but of course the pieces of tart can be taken home as well.
So, à bientot Aurélie Queen of Tarts, see you next time, hopefully soon!
