Patisserie de l'Arabie, well hidden in Gutleut-Viertel has it all: Baklava, Mabroume, Basme, Sirra, Assabia, and Schafayif.... if all this doesn't mean anything to you, you've missed a lot...
I started looking for this small shop because a friend had recommended it and I had some difficulties finding it in the neighborhood. I didn't feel it was anything as exotic or oriental as I would have expected in the lively Bahnhofsviertel, but it's really heaven!
The owner is very friendly; he let us taste and explained things. But to be honest, all of the stuff is just so wonderful, I could never decide and say, what is the best. What I do say and suggest: take all of it! Patisserie de l'Arabie puts any selection into nice boxes. I normally buy the 500 gr box, which gives me two of each kind of pastry they have.
I always intend to take the fancy-looking box as a present to give friends, however, it normally doesn't survive long enough at home. So I'll have to start getting two boxes in the future... not to even think about the heavenly sin of perhaps buying the bigger boxes they have one day!
