The Kraken is not a place you forget.
Decorated by - and I can only guess here, the secret lovechild of Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft, the inside features old timey pictures of rugged explorer type men, retro radios and TVs, various masks of unknown origin and the sculpted heads of at least one horse and a stag. There are of course also a lot of items referencing the dreaded beast the bar is named after, the Kraken.
It is located in the famous Rue de l'École de Médecine, the center of Genevan night life, just opposite Gelatomania. People from all walks of life converge at the Kraken. The atmosphere is amazing, the people easy to talk to. In Geneva, that's quite rare, so I love it.
During the day, The Kraken's bar also serves delicious and varied daily menus, and organises events such as concerts and attic sales, and is just generally awesome. The staff are laid back and enjoy working there, which makes it a pleasure to order the bar's infamous signature shot, the Bifle.
Oh, the Bifle shot. It consists of a mix of the three spirits the bartender you order it from hates the most, so you never know what's in it, but it will always lay you down. It is truly an unforgettable experience! If you ever order one, ask them to tell you about where the Bifle name comes from.
