On Thursdays, we have a special thing going on in our city: it's Thursday Veggie Day! It used to be that meatless options in Ghent were quite limited or mostly unknown. Thanks to this initiative, vegetarianism has been boosted so hard that Ghent has received the title of 'Vegetarian Capital Of The World'. My favourite place to go is 'Le Botaniste', a vegetarian and vegan restaurant that works with organic and vegetable products.
The main reason why I like this place so much is the beautiful retro pharmacy interior. You order your favourite bowl or plate at the pharmacy counter, where all decoration has been kept in its original state. All that because of one reason: because food is medicine!
Good to know:Le Botaniste serves 100% organic, plant-based food and natural wines. Meals are prepared without saturated fats, added sugars, artificial flavours or preservatives. There are also gluten-free dishes on the menu. The wine bar, where you can taste natural wines, is great added value.
