I love to sit and watch the ships come in and there there are some benches nearby the famous "Altonaer Balkon" for that which provide more privacy and a similar great view. You just have to cross the pedestrian bridge from "Altonaer Balkon"'s western edge over the street and you will find them.

From the benches you have an impeccable view towards the harbour. Take some lunch from Altona downtown with you and you will be rewarded with water, sun and wind. And while the workers in the harbour make sure that Hamburg and the world are connected, you can relax and dig in the feeling of being a part of it. From a little distance.
