This place is one of my favorite movie theaters in Hamburg. Zeise is a small cinema that doesn't belong to a big company and is located in a beautiful, industrial style hall. You can definitely watch blockbusters here, but apart from that, they will show a lot of art house movies from all over the world. On a regular basis, there are events like South American or French movie weeks. Very often, the movies will just be subtitled and shown in the original language (which is very uncommon in Germany).
One event I highly enjoy is their weekly Sneak Preview. Every Tuesday night, you will get to watch an unreleased movie in the original version for only € 5 (delicious popcorn included!). Before the main movie starts, they always show a short film and there will be a little lottery. Often times, Zeise also functions as a location for other cultural events like poetry slams.
You will find this movie theater just around the corner of a lot of cool bars in the area of Ottensen (check the Aurel article), so just go out for a relaxed drink after watching a movie!
