When I moved to Vallila years ago, there weren't really any nice restaurants or cafes, only cheap pizzerias and kebab places - and of course, luckily, my favorite bar (check the Pub Magneetti article).
But nowadays it seems there's something new in Vallila every time I go there! There's African (check the African Pots article), Japanese and Venezuelan restaurants and more and more nice cafes and bars. No wonder: Vallila is just about one kilometer away from trendy Kallio district and is inhabited by students.
So, one of the latest additions to Vallila's restaurant scene is Addis Ethiopian Kitchen. Which is great, because I absolutely love Ethiopian food and I have been missing it in Helsinki, as there haven't been many Ethiopian restaurants around before.
Addis Ethiopian Kitchen is a really nice place. The great thing is that it is easy to share and try everything, as the food of the group is served on one big plate. Also the staff is really nice and willing to help people with Ethiopian table manners (use the injera bread to eat!). Addis Ethiopian Kitchen is also a great option for vegetarians and vegans (and there is a gluten-free option too).
