There's been a burger boom in Helsinki for some time now but we still only have a couple of excellent fast food burger places. Many places offer excellent gourmet burgers, like one of my other favorite spots Jailyard Terrace in the summer time and of course their romantic cellar restaurant Linnankellari in the winter time. My favorite of that handful of fast food burger places is local Friends & Brgrs right in the city centre. What makes their burgers so special is the handicraft and quality ingredients.
All the burgers are cooked to order. Ingredients are fresh and mainly contain no additives. Finnish meat is minced by the guys themselves, french fries are made out of real potatoes and mayonnaise is made from eggs and oil. Friends & Brgrs' own bakery bakes the buns.
You get a bit like an American burger joint feeling at the Friends & Brgrs restaurant. There's an open kitchen where you can actually see the chefs cooking the burgers. You can see, feel and taste the passion the guys behind Friends & Brgrs have for the burgers. It is great to see the concept is expanding in Finland and even abroad.
