A couple of years ago I only used to go to Hietalahti Market Hall for lunch and otherwise the hall seemed a bit dead to me. It has been great to see the Hietalahti Market Hall come alive again within the past couple of years, with a focus on food. I love food and nowadays I can go there for grocery shopping, for example to buy some fresh vegetables and fruits, breakfast in the morning, lunch in one of the best lunch restaurants of the city and dinner is now also available. On Saturday evenings there's a popular ongoing Music and Tasting event featuring DJs and tasting-sized dishes to eat. More information about the different shops and restaurants on my site heleats.
The location is not the most central, which is probably why it is not the most popular market hall in Helsinki but Hietalahti Market Hall definitely has the potential. It only takes about 10 minutes by foot from the city center or you can take a tram to go there. Hietalahti is the part of the city where you would probably not go otherwise but the neighborhood is worth exploring and it is next to the sea with nice industrial views. During summer there's also a popular flea market on the parking lot of the Hietalahti Market Hall.
