Until opening in the city center area of Helsinki, Pikkulintu (“Little Bird”) was already a craft beer establishment of its own, but in Puotila, in Eastern Helsinki. I have been delighted to see how they've been able to keep up with their keep-it-simple concept here, close to “Ruttopuisto” (Old Church Park”) and Punavuori.
Pikkulintu is known for having always more than 20 specially selected craft beers on tap, both local and imported, and all coming with the same fixed price of 7€ regardless of type and strength. These guys really know everything about the drinks they sell! Just check the current list on their website! Besides quality beer, Pikkulintu has a selection of nearly 300 whiskeys and offers tasting sessions every now and then.
Outside Pikkulintu doesn’t actually look too much more than a traditional basic pub. So don’t get mixed up with the trendy and modern beer restaurant Lönkka and its 8-Bit Taproom just next door, which may look way more catchy and appealing at first sight. Surely, it's a great choice as well if you are up to it and not short on money. But Pikkulintu is old school and once I get in, I know I’m in good hands.
Also, if I feel hungry, Pikkulintu co-operates with the popular deluxe burger joint Naughty BRGR, which means that I can order dishes from their list to be delivered here in a minute. That lives up nicely to their concept of whatever you buy here, you won’t regret it!
