Most people know Suvilahti as the venue for the famous city Flow Festival featuring trendy music, light show and great eats. Flow Festival fits perfectly at Suvilahti considering Suvilahti is a versatile city culture hub.
For me Suvilahti is a gateway to the Teurastamo foodie area. From the city center you can access Suvilahti easily by metro and stop at Sörnäinen station. Suvilahti is within walking distance from Sörnäinen. I love walking through the industrial area of Suvilahti. You will be amazed by the industrial architecture you will be surrounded by. Suvilahti used to be a powerplant producing gas and electricity in the 20th century.
There's pretty much three things why I think Suvilahti is the gateway to Teurastamo. The first thing is the industrial architecture. Second is Suvilahti TBA which is a nice place to stop by for some cosy homey lunch during the weekends or party at special event dates. The third is of course the local brewery Stadin Panimo. There are brewery tours available as well as their bar where you can have a taste of their wide variety of different beers.
After stopping by at Stadin Panimo bar or Suvilahti TBA, it is easy to continue to Teurastamo which takes about 5-10 minutes on foot. If you are interested in performing arts, Suvilahti also hosts a Circus venue Cirko and Circus Helsinki. Check their websites for shows and more info.
