Attention attention! HIGH VOLTAGE!
You might have heard that we have a lot of funky curse phrases in Slovenia. "Gromka strela!" (literally translates as thunderbolt) is one of them and can be used as an exclamation of surprise. If you decide to visit club Gromka, there will be plenty of both – surprises and thunder-like noises. Gromka is definitely not for the fainthearted and visiting it can be hella transformative. The collectives and organizers working there present culture on a wider scale – their events include everything from poetry, art, theatre, music … or with one word alternative "mumbo jumbo" that will help you ascend into becoming a true Gromka "follower".
If you happen to share my passion for alternative music and want to support underground bands … boy, oh boy, do I have news for you! That news would be headlined as Škuc KBS (former Kiborg Spužva Büking), the organizer that never failed me with the choice of alternative/experimental/trip-hop/jazz bands he brought to Gromka. Behind the extravagant concert history is an even more bizarre guy called Mitja Kralj: a member of four very odd bands (to say the least – in Kuhinjski splav he uses a kitchen blender as an instrument) and a HUGE cat-lover. Treat yourself to one of his concerts and thank me later.
And if this alone won't persuade you, walk yourself to Gromkas bar and order "psychotherapy" - a cocktail that always helps me relax and get into that groovy vibe.
