There’s something about Samuel Smiths pubs that are unusually quirky – they are dotted all over central London, steeped in history and often are very cozy and traditionally decorated. They only serve their own beer (cheaper than regular pubs) which is priced at odd prices for reasons that are still a mystery to me.

Central London is actually not the best area in the city for pubs – they are either too touristy, soulless or both. The Bricklayers it tucked away just behind Tottenham Court Road, but Its side street location means it’s generally locals who congregate here, and I’ll sometimes drop in for a pint whenever I’m central or meeting friends. Head upstairs and you’ll find a cozy lounge with comfortable sofas, oak paneling and a fireplace where you can enjoy a pint of Sam Smith’s Pure Brew Organic Lager or Tadcaster Bitter. They even do their own range of soft drinks that you won’t find elsewhere and food is served upstairs. This isn’t a fancy craft beer place, so don’t expect a huge selection of microbrews. Just a good friendly pub with a great atmosphere.
