After three long months away from my beloved Madrid and, honestly, no shade on the country where I’ve been, my thoughts are fixed on one thing—what am I going to eat? The flavours of Spain are the flavours of home for me.
At last, it’s time to meet up with old friends and get up to speed with their lives and have a delicious bite — but what’s this? We’re meeting at a place I’ve never been to. Not a problem - if Spanish food is on the menu, of course, I’m game! I’m so glad I went, because Anda Jaleo is a real find and I’m planning my next visit already.
The starter section of a menu is the make or break for me — Anda Jaleo’s is incredible! Well-sized portions, reasonably priced and perfect for sharing. Spanish, but with a few little twists. My favourite was a smoked sardine, wakame and pink tomato salad, but the bacalao croquetas were pretty special too.
There’s also an excellent wine list, with most things available by the glass, and a few indulgent desserts if you like a sweet finish!
