Cuadra bakery has inspired me to recommend yet another pastry shop, when I thought I was done!
Bakeries are ubiquitous these days aren’t they? The challenge is to find a great one that offers something a little bit different and special, and that isn’t so “viral” that you have to queue for an hour. Each to their own of course, but life’s too short IMO.
Cuadra has been open just a little while and, while popular, is still on the rise. Everything I’ve sampled has been delectable (mini Basque cheesecakes, pain au chocolat, cruffins and cookies). Try the “lunas”, which are an Argentinian take on a croissant - sweeter, denser and very more-ish. There are lots of savoury options on offer too; they sell excellent bread and make a good coffee. Friendly service too.
There is also a little restaurant attached next door - I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks good. However, I recommend picking up some lunch in the shop and enjoying it in the nearby Plaza de Olavide, where there is plenty of seating and shade-giving trees.
