For lovers of grilled food and meze, Mevlana is well worth a visit! From the outside it hardly even looks like a restaurant and it took me quite some time to notice it at all! I live close by and pass it on my way to the store where I do my grocery shopping, and one day I just happened to look inside - to my surprise it was a restaurant, and it was filled with guests eating food that looked absolutely amazing! - lavas (bread), tzatziki, hummus, tabouleh and different kinds of grilled meat, colourful, nicely served and deliciously looking. I passed several times more, at different times, and it was always full, usually a very good sign for a restaurant.
I tried it out with a friend and we were both absolutely blown away! They have the best hummus I've ever tasted - since Sweden is very open to new influences when it comes to food, I've been eating hummus most of my life and make it myself as well - and the salad called "Mevlana special", with pomegranate and walnuts is heavenly! Since that first time, I've gone back many times with friends and family, who all love it. Being a vegetarian myself, I have no personal opinion on the meat dishes, but everyone assures me they're all delicious!
So when in Malmö next, why not try out this hidden gem with price worthy meze and "coal grilled", delicious Turkish food, the only restaurant of its kind in Malmö.
