PulquerÃa Los Insurgentes has become one of those special locations in the city for me and my friends. It has three floors and a terrace, each one playing different music form DJ set, to Jazz, to live rock bands. We always like to go to the terrace since there is enough space to sit down, even have some snacks and a conversation. We really like this place because it's really casual, and we usually end up going without planning it, which is amazing.
For those who don't know, pulque is an ancient drink from Mexico that is made with fermented maguey sap. This place offers two different kinds of pulque: "natural" and "curado", which is flavored pulque. They have seasonal flavors as well as their traditional options like oats, mango, strawberry and celery. My personal favorite is with berries. If you've tried pulque and it's not your cup of tea, then beer, mezcal and some other options are also available.
Coming on either a Friday or Saturday night is a good idea, however, the place gets packed, which is a lot of fun.
