Mexico City is known for its shopping. La Ciudadela is one of the best markets in Mexico City because of its convenient location really close to the Centro Histórico neighborhood.
This market is a great place to shop all of Mexico in one market. Mexico’s distinct regions are known for different kinds of crafts, so you don’t have to travel all around Mexico to get the best out of each place. Here you can find all kinds of crafts and souvenirs from all regions of Mexico, for example dresses, embroidered handbags, huipil blouses, textiles, sombreros, leather shoes, hammocks, pottery, silver jewelry, toys, etc.
La Ciudadela is a really big market but not overwhelming, I recommend bringing cash with you since credit cards are not accepted in all shops and bargaining is expected. It’s also good to know that you can find snacks in the market if you get hungry, also amazing freshly brewed Mexican coffee, and Mexican hot chocolate is available in several corners of the market.
