Growing up in Montreal, you tend to become an avid connaisseur of world cuisines. You have your favorite dimsum spot, your go-to place for bagels and just the right bakery to buy your favorite French baguette. When I moved to Milan, I must say that I wasn't disappointed in the food department as the array of choices is never-ending. I could find just about everything I was craving except for two things: a "real" French baguette and a "real" pain au chocolat. This all changed when l'Egalité, an authentic and traditional French Bakery opened its doors!
This charming place has become one of my favorite breakfast spots and my ultimate source when it comes to buying bread! L'Egalité is ran by the maestro boulanger Thierry Loy and his team of experts. Everything is made fresh in-house and you can watch the bakers at work inside the shop while you wait for your order. If you are not a morning person, the good news is that they also serve "aperitivo". You can drop by during happy hour for a special platter selection of French delicacies with a glass of champagne.
PS- I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I must say that their éclairs are to die for!
