Ostello Bello Grande is the big brother of the Milanese gem of hostel accommodation, Ostello Bello. OBG opened a couple of years after OB, and while OB has won the Best Italian Hostel Hoscar for a few years in a row, OBG is the winner of the Best Large Hostel Worldwide as well as the Most Popular Hostel in Milan Hoscars.
Living up to its credentials, Ostello Bello Grande is a very warm and welcoming space for both guests and the locals who just want to hang out in a friendly location. The hostel is super close to Stazione Centrale and for that reason is the ideal spot to meet when you need to move quickly around town: in fact, I often meet here with my friends, both the ones who live in Milan and those who live outside.
On top of the essentials, OBG offers a 24/7 bar service and free walking tours. The door's always open here, metaphorically and not. As of a couple of years they expanded and added a lovely dehors in the internal yard of the building where you can enjoy the OBG aperitivo, even if you're not a guest. During the summer, you'll easily find a Milanese giving Italian lessons to exchange students, somebody strumming their guitar, or simply people blowing off some steam in the bar area.
OBG is a very chill place and the perfect spot to strike up a conversation and make new friends: isn't feeling at home what we all love about traveling in the end?
